When we arrived the evaporator fan was working and warm air was blowing into refrigerator section. Looking into the rear of freezer I noticed a large build up of frost on back wall. This unit had what is called a defrost issue.

After removing the rear panel I took what is called a continuity check on heater and bi-metal. These two components of the defrost cycle check out OK. This left the jazz board as the part that had failed. The jazz board is the control part of the defrost cycle that tells the heater to come on and melt off the ice build up on the evaporator. When to much ice accumulates on the evaporator, air circulation is cut off and cooling stops in the refrigerator.

We started by removing the ice block that accumulated in the evaporator section of the freezer, then we replaced the main control (jazz board). The refrigerator started its cooling process normally and the food in the freezer was saved.
