Appliance Refrigerator repair Rhododendron Oregon

Whirlpool Appliance refrigerator Repair Mt Hood, Oregon and surrounding areas.

Every now and then those of us in the appliance industry get to see some thing very rare. In this case the customer had called and said his refrigerator was leaking water from the bottom right rear. When we arrived I noticed the water was definitely coming from the area described by the customer. I removed the back panel and quickly realized the water was coming from condensation on one of the copper line connected to the compressor? This was a first for me, the refrigerator was less than two years old and the leaking looked like it had been going on for some time. I started with checking the fan motors, evaporator, control features and found nothing out of the ordinary? I did find the condenser to be blocked with debris and the refrigerator was located over a floor vent, but this was still a very strange thing to be happening. I cleaned the condenser area and instructed the customer to close the floor vent located below the refrigerator. I instructed him to check on the leaking for the next week or so and to keep me informed. At first every thing seemed to be great. Then about two weeks later he called and said the unit was leaking again. At this point I decided to contact on of our other refrigeration technicians to get some feed back. After talking and brain storming together there was only on possible cause. This refrigerator came from the factory over charged with freon. There was so much freon coolant that the below zero temp was making it way outside the cabinet back to the compressor. When I arrived and removed the rear cover this is what I seen! WOW!

In the picture you can see the cooling had gotten so bad outside of the refrigerator compartment it created a giant ice ball. The temperatures that week where in the 90’s and the refrigerator was working over time. After removing the ice build up I evacuated the system installed a new filter dryer and recharge the system with the proper freon charge. No more leaking or ice build up!
