Maytag washer not finishing cycle, stops at rinse then shuts down. Most machines today only allow cold rinse cycles. This was a big clue when they said it stoped at the rinse cycle and then just shut down.

The first thing I checked was the cold water fill hoses. They seemed fine so I turned the cold water on and let the water flow into the wash sink next to the washer. The washer was definitely getting cold water. Next I hooked the water back to machine and tryed to start the machine in cold water setting. Nothing? I removed the top control panel and ohmed out the water valve, the reading was normal. That left only one option for possible defect, the water temperature switch.

After replacing the temp switch the washer started a load on cold water setting and went completely through the wash cycle.
